This Privacy Policy explains what data the Hush Remote Android application (the "App", "we", "us") collects, how we use it, and the limited circumstances under which it is shared.
The short version: we do not run our own servers or collect any data ourselves. The App talks to your TV over your local Wi-Fi network and to Google's ad and billing services for monetisation. That's it.
1. Information we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email, phone number, location, contacts, photos, or any identity data.
We do not record what TV you have, what you watch, or which buttons you press.
We do not run analytics, A/B-testing, crash-reporting, or any "phone-home" telemetry.
We do not have user accounts or sign-in.
2. Data Google collects through the App
Hush Remote uses three Google SDKs that handle their own data processing under Google's privacy policy:
2.1 Google Mobile Ads (AdMob)
Serves the picker-screen banner, the once-per-launch app-open ad, and the interstitial that fires every 60–100 button presses. AdMob may collect:
App activity related to ad interactions (impressions, clicks)
Device or other IDs (advertising ID, IP address)
Diagnostics (crash logs, performance data from the ad SDK)
If you are located in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, or another region that requires consent before ad personalisation, the App shows you Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) consent form on first launch. You may change your choices at any time in Settings → Manage data & ads consent.
2.2 Google Play Billing
Powers the optional "Remove ads" purchases (one-time Lifetime, or monthly subscription). Purchase processing, payment data, and refunds are handled entirely by Google Play; we never see your card details. Purchases are processed under Google Play's privacy practices.
2.3 Google User Messaging Platform (UMP)
Used solely to obtain and remember consent for personalised advertising where required by law.
3. How to opt out
Stop seeing ads entirely: Purchase the Lifetime or monthly Remove-ads upgrade from Settings → Remove ads. Ad SDK initialisation is skipped after that.
Limit ad personalisation: Change your consent choices in Settings → Manage data & ads consent, or your device's system-wide ad settings (Android Settings → Google → Ads → "Reset advertising ID" / "Opt out of Ads Personalization").
Delete the App: Uninstalling Hush Remote removes the App's local storage (paired-TV certificate, premium flag, consent choices). Google may retain data it collected per its own policies.
4. Data we store locally on your device
A self-signed client certificate used to pair with Android TV / Google TV devices. Never transmitted off your local network.
A flag indicating whether you have purchased the Remove-ads upgrade.
Your UMP consent state.
All of this is in the app's private storage. Uninstalling the App deletes it.
5. Children's privacy
Hush Remote is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children, and we do not use the Google Designed-for-Families program.
6. Changes to this policy
If we change this Privacy Policy in a material way, we will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, surface the change in the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
